Ow, teeth!

I always thought the sentiment to stop Breastfeeding when a baby got teeth was a little odd. Babies need milk as a major part of their diet until at least aged 1 and most grow teeth before that. And I was speaking as the voice of some experience as Button got her first teeth aged 4 months – a time when I felt I was starting to get into stride with Breastfeeding, not considering winding up. But now, at 8 months I do see what people mean. She has got 7 and a bit teeth now, and today the pain I’ve been feeling on one side has now developed into a fully fledged cut. It hurt hurt hurts! It’s not her fault of course, nor even that of her pesky top front tooth that is poking out increasingly, but where the cut is tells me that the latch is wrong. Annoyingly I’m not at all sure what to do to improve it, so I think I’ll start by trying to totally change the feeding position by either lying down or sitting her up facing me. Let’s hope that sorts it – unless you’ve got ideas?

thanks for the link to your post. I am trying to find out more about hydrogen peroxide. The cut has scabbed over a bit, and I am feeding lying down on that side to get a different angle. It seems to help. I will also have a good read of your resources when I get a chance. It looks v interesting!
